Kano Senator Sparks Controversy by Interrupting Human Trafficking Probe Involving 59 Minors
In a dramatic twist, Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila of Kano South interrupted a human trafficking investigation after 59 minors were intercepted en route to Nasarawa State.
The minors, packed tightly in an unventilated cargo bus, were stopped along the Kano-Abuja Expressway by the Federal Capital Territory Police.
Classified as a suspected child trafficking and abuse case by FCT Police Commissioner Olatunji Disu, the children were placed under police custody for further investigation.
However, on Thursday, Senator Kawu arrived at the police command, demanding the children be handed over to him to return them to Kano.
He justified their transportation as a means of sending them for training in Nasarawa.
The senator’s intervention and comments, broadcast by Arise TV, have introduced a controversial dimension to the case, sparking widespread public debate over the conditions and intentions behind the children’s journey.
