In a bid to alleviate the current economic hardship, the Kazaure Emirate in Jigawa State has distributed food items worth over N33 million to underprivileged individuals across the Emirate.
During the distribution ceremony held in Roni Local Government Area, Alhaji Bala Muhammad explained that the food items were collected as Zakkat (charitable alms) from local farmers.
He noted that farmers in the region contributed the items as part of their religious obligation, which were then entrusted to the committee for fair distribution to deserving beneficiaries.
Alhaji Bala emphasized the Emirate’s commitment to sustaining this initiative, stating, “The committee will continue to collect Zakkat from well-to-do individuals and distribute it to the needy in accordance with Islamic teachings.”
He also encouraged the public to support the Emirate’s Waqf (endowment) program to expand support for orphans, the underprivileged, and individuals with chronic illnesses.
Speaking at the event, His Highness, the Emir of Kazaure, Dr. Najib Hussaini Adamu, reaffirmed the Emirate’s dedication to using Zakkat as a tool for societal support and fostering unity.
Represented by Makaman Kazaure, Alhaji Jamilu Umar Adamu, the Emir expressed gratitude to the committee and residents for their continued cooperation in the collection and distribution of Zakkat over the years.
“This initiative strengthens the bond of brotherhood within our community and ensures that those in need are cared for,” he stated.
