In commemoration of Customer Service Week 2026, the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has empowered women with practical soap-making skills as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
Sani Bala Sani, Head, Corporate Communications at KEDCO disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen today.
The initiative is designed to promote self-reliance, economic inclusion, and sustainable livelihoods by equipping beneficiaries with skills to produce marketable products and create income-generating opportunities.
Speaking on the initiative, KEDCO’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Abubakar Shuaibu Jimeta, said the company’s commitment to customers extends beyond electricity service delivery to supporting the wellbeing and development of the communities it serves.
“Empowering women with skills and opportunities is an investment in individuals, families, communities and the future. When women rise, communities rise.” He said.
Dr. Jimeta noted that Customer Service Week provides an opportunity for KEDCO to reaffirm its People-First philosophy and demonstrate that service excellence also involves creating meaningful and sustainable impact within its host communities.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to KEDCO, describing the training as an opportunity to acquire practical skills that can strengthen their livelihoods and economic independence.
The initiative reflects KEDCO’s broader commitment to community development, inclusion and empowerment, reinforcing the company’s belief that meaningful customer service extends beyond electricity supply to improving the lives and livelihoods of the communities it serves.
KEDCO remains committed to putting people first, empowering communities and powering progress across its franchise area.
