Kidnapping: Yobe Police Command Arrest 2 Suspects, Recover 26 Goats As CP Charges Personal On Proactive Policing

The Yobe State Police Command has recorded another operational breakthrough in its sustained efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes with the arrest of two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate operating in Gujba Local Government Area.
In a press statement by Yobe Police PPRO SP Dungus Abdulkareem said, the command On 7 July 2026, the Gujba Divisional Police headquarters received a distress report that unknown armed men had abducted one Idi Musa of Kolmamaji Village, Gujba Local Government Area, after forcibly taking him and his Kasea motorcycle to an unknown destination. Upon receipt of the report, the Division immediately mobilized operatives and commenced coordinated search-and-rescue operations alongside intelligence gathering to secure the victim’s safe rescue and apprehend the perpetrators.
On 10 July 2026, the victim escaped from the kidnappers’ hideout and reported to the Police.
During debriefing, he provided credible information that aided the ongoing investigation.
Acting on the intelligence, police operatives on 11 July 2026 arrested two suspects identified as Musa Damuna, 23 years, and Yusufa Muhammad Bello, 21 years, both of Mutai Ward, Gujba Local Government Area.
During the operation, the Police recovered twenty-six (26) goats suspected to be stolen.
Preliminary investigation further revealed that the suspects had already disposed of the victim’s motorcycle before their arrest. Efforts are ongoing to trace and recover the motorcycle and apprehend other members of the syndicate who are currently at large.
The suspects are in police custody while investigation is ongoing. They will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, psc, mspsp,charged officers and men of the Command to sustain proactive, intelligence-led policing. He also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the Police, assuring them of the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the State.
