KNSG strengthen ties with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to enhance healthcare services

The Governor of Kano State, Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reiterated his commitment to strengthen the already existing 11-year relationship between the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Kano State Government.

Governor Yusuf made gave the assurances during a meeting with representatives from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, held at the Kano State Government House on Tuesday.

The Governor’s Deputy, Comr. Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo who received the Foundation’s delegation on behalf of the Governor, emphasized the state’s commitment to enhancing its healthcare sector, ranging from primary to tertiary levels.

Gov. Yusuf explained that in a bid to tackle the recent outbreak of diphtheria disease, Kano state needs approximately 6 million doses of vaccines for mass immunization to combat the epidemic.

The Governor extended his gratitude to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for their ongoing support in the health sector of Kano State.

He also expressed his desire for the Foundation to play a role in other areas of development, such as agriculture and digital financial solutions.

Mr. Jerremy Zungurana, the leader of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s delegation in Nigeria, praised the longstanding partnership between the Foundation and the Kano State Government.

He commended the state’s efforts in developing healthcare services at the primary level and pledged continued support for the state’s initiatives.
