The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) has intensified grassroots sensitisation efforts in Warawa Local Government Area to promote the utilisation of healthcare services under the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) and strengthen community awareness of enrollees’ rights to quality healthcare services.
The sensitisation exercise covered Tamburawar Gabas Primary Health Centre, Tanagar Primary Health Centre, and Warawa Primary Health Centre, where the Agency engaged with enrollees, healthcare workers, community leaders, and other stakeholders on the benefits and entitlements available under the BHCPF programme.
The KSCHMA delegation was led by Aminu Ahmad Turaki, who represented the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar. The team was warmly received by Alhaji Rabiu Zubairu, who represented the District Head of Warawa, Alhaji Muhammad Hassan Ma’ajin Watarin Kano.
During the engagement, the Agency emphasized that all registered BHCPF beneficiaries are entitled to access quality healthcare services at accredited facilities without financial hardship. However, it was observed that despite the number of registered enrollees in the area, the turnout of beneficiaries accessing healthcare services remains relatively low.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Aminu Ahmad Turaki appealed to the traditional institution and community leaders to intensify sensitisation efforts and encourage registered beneficiaries to take advantage of the healthcare services available to them.
He noted that the BHCPF programme was designed to remove financial barriers to healthcare and ensure that vulnerable and underserved populations receive essential medical services when needed.
In his remarks, Alhaji Rabiu Zubairu commended KSCHMA for bringing healthcare awareness directly to the grassroots and assured the Agency of the support of the traditional institution in mobilising communities to embrace the programme.
The visit also provided an opportunity to interact with healthcare personnel and community members, assess service delivery, identify challenges, and strengthen collaboration between healthcare providers and community stakeholders.
KSCHMA reaffirmed its commitment, under the leadership of Dr Rahila Aliyu Muktar, to advancing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s Kano First Agenda through expanded healthcare coverage, community engagement, and improved access to quality healthcare services across Kano State.
