The Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano State, Ghali Abdullahi Basaf, paid an unscheduled visit to a Primary Health Centre (PHC) on Wednesday, where he reportedly waited with patients for 60 minutes before any healthcare worker arrived.
The chairman disclosed this on his official Facebook page, expressing disappointment over repeated reports of negligence by staff of the facility.
“Following several complaints I’ve received about the staff of Gwazaye Primary Clinic, Samegu, today, 5/11/2025, I paid an unprecedented visit to the hospital at exactly 8:20 a.m. where I met only patients waiting, with no staff on ground. However, I met a woman who works as a cleaner. After waiting, the in-charge of the clinic came at exactly 9:20 with one staff,” Basaf stated.
The chairman said he addressed and cautioned the staff who arrived before his departure. He further directed the absent workers to report to the Health Department of the Local Government to answer queries regarding their absence.
Meanwhile, the cleaner who was on duty at the time received an immediate offer of employment on the chairman’s instruction.
