Man Dies After Falling Into Pond In Danbatta

An 18-year-old man, Abdullahi Aminu, has died after falling into a pond at Kofar Gabas in Danbatta Local Government Area of Kano State.
A statement by the Kano State Fire Service said the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, 11th August,2026.
“At about 15:28 hours, the agency received a distress call from Aminu Lawan, who informed the Fire Service office in Danbatta that his son had fallen into a pond.
“Upon receiving the report, Fire Service personnel from the Danbatta fire station immediately mobilised to the scene. On arrival, they found an approximately an 18-year-old man identified as Abdullahi Aminu, who had fallen into a pond,” said the statement which was signed by ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi,Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service
Abdullahi said the Sevice’s men from Danbatta had successfully recovered the victim from the pond in an unconscious state, and that he was later confirmed dead.
He said the body of the victim was subsequently handed over to the Secretary to the District Head of Danbatta, Alhaji Baba Ado Sarkin Bai, for further necessary action.
“The Kano State Fire Service sympathises with the family of the deceased and urges members of the public to exercise extreme caution around ponds, waterways and other bodies of water, particularly during this period,” the statement added.
