Military/Police clash : IGP Egbetokun visit Yola, boost morale of officers

The Inspector General of police (IGP),Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has charged the officers and men of force (NPF) serving in Adamawa state not to be demolarise by the brutal invasion of it’s headquarters by some disgruntled and overzilous Military personnel  last week.

IGP Egbetokun threw the charge 
 in Yola Tuesday while addressing the officers and men of command decrying the attack by some misguided soldiers on the police facility noting that the police are not at war with the Military that could warrant such condemable action.

“The military attack was carried out in a manner representing the activities of  Boko Haram terrorists invasion on a government facility.

“I am here to share your grip and to assure you that this report has been escalated to the highest authority in the land which for sure,there will be Justice at the end of it”. Egbetokun assured.

Egbetokun urges for more synergy with other sister security agencies in the best interest of peace,harmony and tranquility by according loyalty, respect and tolerance to each in the discharge of their responsibilities. 

He stressed that the family of the slain Inspector Jacob Daniel who was killed during the Military invasion will be supported by the force noting that his labour shall never be  in vain directing that the usual  joint operation with other sister security agencies including the Military will continue .

The IGP while reiterating the commitment of his leadership in attracting more welfare packages from the government advised officers and men of the police force for attitunal change which will also bring support, cooperation and good wills from both governments and citizenry.

“The policing vision of this administration is to have a police force that is professionally competent,service driven,rule of law compliant and citizen friendly”.He reiterated.

Earlier in his welcome address, Commissioner of police, Adamawa state command,CP Afolabi Babatola said the command has put concerted effort in rebuilding the security architecture in tackling emerging challenges of shilla boys, kidnapping, homicide, rape and other heinous crimes in the state.

CP Babatola stated that despite of logistics and manpower shortage challenges bedeviling the command,his Personnel have been working assiduously in maintaining and sustaining peace and security in the state.

He however, pleaded with the IGP and his management team to assist his command with Armoured Personnel  Carriers (APCs),Gun trucks and Hilux vehicles to improve the tempo of their operations.

It could be recalled that last Tuesday the some army personnel in their numbers  invaded  the Yola police headquarters over little clash of two-fighting between a police man on stop and search duty and 3 soldiers causing serious security breach which claimed lives and destruction of property among the duo.
