Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has congratulated the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Council, Comrade Ayuku Pwaspo, and members of the State Executive Council on their re-election for another three-year term.
Governor Mutfwang described the re-election as a strong vote of confidence in the leadership of the NUJ Plateau Council and recognition of the achievements recorded during its first tenure.
In a congratulatory message, signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs Dr. Gyang Bere, PhD,
the Governor commended Pwaspo for her leadership, which he said had demonstrated capacity, courage and commitment to effective, inclusive and purposeful administration of the union.
He also praised the NUJ leadership for its efforts toward improving the welfare and professional development of journalists, as well as strengthening unity, solidarity and mutual support among media practitioners across the state.
Mutfwang urged the re-elected executive to view the fresh mandate as a greater responsibility to consolidate the gains of the past three years, deepen professional standards and promote ethical journalism.
According to him, the media has an important role to play in promoting peace, development, accountability and good governance in Plateau State.
The Governor assured the NUJ of his administration’s continued partnership and constructive engagement with the media, stressing that a vibrant, responsible, professional and independent press remains essential to sustaining democracy and promoting public accountability.
He congratulated Pwaspo and members of her executive council on behalf of the Plateau State Government and people, and prayed for wisdom, good health, renewed strength and grace as they commence another three years of service to the journalism profession and the people of the state.
The Governor also expressed confidence that the NUJ leadership would continue to promote narratives that accurately reflect Plateau State’s progress, aspirations and enduring values.
