Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has inaugurated the state chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a support group mobilising grassroots backing for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, with 25 campaign vehicles donated by businessman High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.
The inauguration which took place on Wednesday at Langfield Event Centre, Little Rayfield, Jos, brought together leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), political stakeholders and members of the movement.
Speaking at the event, Mutfwang declared his support for Tinubu, saying his conviction followed a personal meeting with the President shortly after the 2023 general elections.
“I made up my mind that this was the President to travel with even when I was not in the same party with him. I saw a man who is committed to making Nigeria better,” the governor said.
Acknowledging the country’s economic and security challenges, Mutfwang urged Nigerians to exercise patience with the Federal Government’s reforms, expressing optimism that the measures would yield positive results.
“Yes, we are not there yet. There are challenges in the country, and we will not deny them. But definitely, we are on the road to making things right,” he stated.
The governor also commended Tinubu for supporting Plateau State’s security efforts, expressing confidence that collaboration between the two levels of government would help tackle criminal networks and restore lasting peace.
On infrastructure, Mutfwang cited the proposed dualisation of the Mararaban Jama’a–Mangu–Pankshin–Langtang–Shendam road corridor, extending across River Ibi, as a major federal intervention that could improve connectivity and economic activities across the state.
He disclosed that a technical team from the Federal Ministry of Works was already in Plateau conducting preliminary assessments, expressing hope that the necessary technical details would be concluded before the end of the year.
Ahead of the 2027 elections, the governor announced that Plateau would host Tinubu on November 14, 2026, for a rally at Zaria Road Stadium in Jos. He challenged members of the movement to mobilise at least 50 people each for the event.
“We are going to show the world that Plateau people are in love with President Tinubu, and we have every reason to show that love because he has demonstrated it towards us,” Mutfwang said.
He urged members to take the movement’s message to communities across the state and ensure peaceful political participation, while warning beneficiaries of the donated vehicles against misuse.
“Those who have been given the opportunity to use those vehicles, please use them responsibly and make sure you do not bring us to shame,” he cautioned.
Also speaking, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, called for coordinated mobilisation in support of the party’s candidates at presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives, governorship and State House of Assembly levels.
Yilwatda urged party members to strengthen their presence across local government areas, wards and polling units, citing security interventions, forest guard training and road construction as areas of cooperation between the state and Federal Government.
The movement’s Grant Patron, Tompolo, described Tinubu as a leader committed to Nigeria’s development and called on members to intensify grassroots communication about the administration’s policies and reforms.
He urged the group to take its message to local governments, wards, polling units, markets, churches and households, stressing the importance of direct engagement with citizens.
The movement had earlier paid a courtesy visit to Governor Mutfwang at his office, where both parties expressed commitment to mobilising support for Tinubu and other APC candidates.
The commissioning of the 25 vehicles marked a major highlight of the event, providing logistical support for the movement’s planned door-to-door mobilisation across Plateau State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
