The son of retired Maj. Gen. Rabe Abubakar says he does not know how his father’s body was recovered after the former military officer reportedly died while in the custody of kidnappers in northwestern Nigeria.
Speaking with DW Hausa, Isyaka Rabe said he has been repeatedly asked how the body of his late father was retrieved from the abductors but has no information about the circumstances surrounding its recovery.
“I also want to know how my father’s body was brought back,” Isyaka said.
He said the Katsina State government is in a better position to explain how the body was recovered following his father’s death in captivity.
Isyaka also disclosed that his mother remains in the hands of the kidnappers who abducted both parents, a situation he said continues to cause anxiety and distress for the family.
Retired Maj. Gen. Rabe was abducted in Katsina State while traveling with his wife. Reports indicate that he later died while being held by his captors.
The incident has drawn widespread sympathy and renewed concerns over the persistent threat of kidnapping and insecurity in parts of northern Nigeria, where armed gangs have continued to target travelers and communities despite ongoing security operations.
