NASSI Lauds Gov Namadi for Supporting 600 Women Tom Brown Producers

From Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse

The Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI) Dutse branch has commended Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi for training and providing support grants to 600 women on the production of Tom Brown to tackle malnutrition.

The commendation was made by the Jigawa State Secretary of the association, Comrade Dallami Haladu Shuaibu, during NASSI’s executive meeting at its Dutse Secretariat.

Comrade Dallami described the governor’s effort as an economic empowerment initiative boosting SMEs while fighting child malnutrition and reducing stunting rates in the state. He stated that Tom Brown production serves as a sustainable solution to nutritional challenges, particularly through the Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) program which educates nursing mothers on preparing balanced diets using locally available foods.

“To further strengthen SMEs, Governor Namadi approved training for 600 women in producing Tom Brown, a locally sourced nutritional formula effective in preventing and treating moderate malnutrition in children,” Dallami said.

The secretary added that the initiative provides economic empowerment, enabling beneficiaries to generate income and create employment. Each of the 600 women received financial support, sealing machines, and raw materials to begin production.

Dallami noted that NASSI will monitor the program’s implementation, while the state government has directed local government chairmen to collaborate with the Primary Healthcare Agency in purchasing the products directly from the trained women.

He praised Governor Namadi as an embodiment of good governance, saying the initiative demonstrates his commitment to the welfare of children, women, and all citizens of Jigawa State.
