The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kano Operations Office, in collaboration with the Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), on Thursday convened a Multi-Sectoral Coordination Meeting on Flood Preparedness and Response in Kano State.
The meeting brought together representatives of key humanitarian sectors, government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), security organisations, humanitarian partners, and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen coordination and collaboration for effective flood preparedness and response.
During the meeting, sector representatives presented their preparedness status, highlighting key achievements, available capacities, challenges, and priority actions needed to strengthen flood preparedness and response.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to review sectoral readiness, enhance information sharing, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and identify areas requiring further collaboration and support.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of NEMA and SEMA to promoting disaster risk reduction, strengthening multi-sectoral coordination, and enhancing stakeholders’ capacity for effective emergency preparedness and response.
