North-Eastern University (NEU), Gombe, has inducted over 400 newly admitted students during its fourth matriculation ceremony, reinforcing the institution’s steady growth and commitment to quality higher education.
The ceremony, held on the university campus, formally marked the entry of students into various academic programmes across its faculties.
Addressing the new students, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Yusuph Amuda Yahaya, congratulated them on their admission and urged them to remain disciplined, focused and committed to their studies. He stressed that the university would continue to uphold high academic standards while providing a conducive learning environment supported by modern facilities and qualified staff.
The Founder of the university, Dr. Sani Jauro, advised the students to take their academic responsibilities seriously, noting that NEU places equal emphasis on moral values, discipline and character development.
He also announced that the university has provided free cooking gas for students as part of its welfare and safety measures.
Representing the Gombe State Government, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Muhammad Shettima Gadam, commended the university’s progress and encouraged the students to make effective use of the opportunity offered to them.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Education, Professor Aishatu Umar Maigari, praised NEU’s role in expanding access to higher education and assured the institution of continued government support.
Traditional leaders, including Alhaji Yaya Hammari, Waziri of Yariman Gombe, and Hayatu Bala Magaji, District Head of Gombe, also urged the students to remain disciplined and dedicated to their studies.
The ceremony featured the presentation of awards to outstanding students and was attended by government officials, traditional rulers, parents and other stakeholders in the education sector.
