Niger gov sacks political appointees, dissolves commissions, others

The Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umar Bago has terminated the appointment of all political office holders appointed before May 29, 2023.

Governor Bago ordered the dissolution and termination of the appointments with immediate effect.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman on Monday.

The governor also dissolved all statutory Commissions, Boards, and Parastatals in the state.

The SSG further explained that Commissions, Boards, and Parastatals that are tenured or not tenured are also affected by the dissolution and urged concerned officials to comply immediately with the directive.

While recognising their positive contributions to the development of the State and the affairs of their office, the SSG directed those affected by the dissolution to hand over all Government properties including official vehicles in their possession to the most senior directors in their respective organisations.

The governor wished the affected members of the dissolved Commissions, Boards, Parastatals, and Political Appointees success in their future endeavors.
