Nigerian Army Arrests Gunrunners, Recovers Arms, Ammunition in Plateau State

In a significant breakthrough, the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN has arrested suspected gunrunners and recovered various calibers of arms and ammunition, as well as motorcycles, in Plateau State on November 17, 2024.

During a snap operation at Kwanan Fulani in Jos South LGA, a notorious gunrunner was arrested while conveying arms and ammunition to Farin Lamba. Recovered items included One fabricated rifle, One AK-47 magazine,15 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) One knife and One motorcycle

In a statement signed by the military information officer, Major Samson Zhakom, disclosed that in a separate operation just two hours later, four 4 more gunrunners were intercepted at the same location. Recovered items included One AK-47 rifle, One fabricated AK-47 rifle, One round of 7.62 mm (Special, Three motorcycles and One Jack knife)

He said the the arrested suspects are currently in their custody for interrogation and also in possession of items recovered.

It assured that the Nigerian Army is committed to ensuring the security of lives and property within the Joint Operations Area and urged the public to provide timely intelligence to aid in ridding the area of criminal elements.

The statement added that the operation is part of the army’s ongoing efforts to combat insecurity in the region, following previous successes in Plateau and Kaduna States.
