The Forum of Northern Governors’ Wives has supported 1,200 vulnerable women and persons in Adamawa State with cash, food and non-food items to cushion the effects of economic hardship.
The intervention was part of activities marking the Forum’s Tri-Annual Meeting, which began on Tuesday and ended Wednesday in Yola. The meeting was hosted by the Adamawa First Lady, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri.
Under the empowerment programme, 200 beneficiaries received ₦100,000 each, totalling ₦20 million, while another 1,000 vulnerable persons received food and non-food items.
Speaking at the event, Hajiya Lami Fintiri said the intervention was aimed at providing immediate relief while helping beneficiaries rebuild their livelihoods and regain confidence.
She urged the beneficiaries to use the support judiciously so that their families and communities could benefit from the intervention as a dividend of democracy.
The meeting, led by the wife of the Gombe State Governor, Hajiya Asmau Inuwa Yahaya, brought together the wives of the 19 Northern governors and women’s groups from the 21 local government areas of Adamawa State.
