NSCDC Kano Command Busts Motorcycle Theft Syndicate, Arrests Six Suspects
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has successfully dismantled a motorcycle theft syndicate operating in Kumbotso Local Government Area. Six suspects have been apprehended, while a manhunt is underway for two accomplices still at large.

The suspects, identified as Najib Lawal (25), Bashir Bello Idris (34), Lawan Yakubu (27), Kabiru Garba (29), Hussain Hassan (24), and Mubarak Basiru (21), are accused of targeting unsuspecting individuals in the Gurin Gawa and Bechi areas. The gang allegedly used violent methods to snatch motorcycles.
“On 14th January 2025, two of the suspects, Mubarak Basiru and Hussain Hassan, were reported to have forcibly broken into the home of Malam Abdullahi Bala in Gurin Gawa around 3:00 a.m. They assaulted the victim and stole his motorcycle. Prompt action by the local vigilante group and the NSCDC’s Kumbotso division led to their arrest.
“Further investigations resulted in the apprehension of four additional suspects, including two individuals accused of receiving stolen motorcycles. So far, two motorcycles have been recovered, and efforts are ongoing to retrieve more stolen property”,the statement said.
The Commandant of the NSCDC in Kano, Mohammed Lawal Falala, has directed the Armed Squad Unit to intensify patrols around the Eastern Bypass and other vulnerable areas in the metropolis to prevent further criminal activities.
