Operation Safe Haven Engages Stakeholders for Peaceful Farming Season in Plateau State

In a bid to ensure a peaceful and secure farming season in Plateau State, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander Operation Safe Haven, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, has engaged critical stakeholders in Bokkos Local Government Area on Tuesday.
The meeting emphasized the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in achieving lasting peace and security.
Major General Oyinlola stressed that security is a collective responsibility, requiring the cooperation and commitment of all segments of society.
He noted that Operation Safe Haven has intensified efforts in securing communities, preventing attacks, and responding decisively to security threats.
The Commander acknowledged the successes recorded through similar engagements in the past, which resulted in a reduction in violent clashes between herders and farmers.
To build on these gains, Major General Oyinlola called for the support of traditional and religious leaders, youths, women, and other stakeholders in promoting dialogue, tolerance, and conflict resolution.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang, represented by his special adviser on special duties, Istifanus Mwansat, reiterated his administration’s commitment to peace and security in Plateau State.
He emphasized that security is not just about the presence of security personnel, but also a state of mind.
Chairman of Bokkos local government council, Amalau Samuel, lauded the Commander for taking the stakeholders’ engagement to the grassroots and promised to support security agencies’ efforts in peace building and conflict resolution.
Stakeholders from various districts acknowledged the reduction in cases of attacks, uncontrolled grazing, and illegal mining, and pledged to work together to address the challenges enumerated, including kidnapping, cattle rustling, and sales of illicit drugs.
