PCACC partners Kano OGP to strengthen anti-corruption fight

Kano State Open Government Partnership (OGP) has joined forces with the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) to intensify their fight against corruption.

In a recent meeting between the OGP and PCACC Chairman Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, the commitment to collaboration was reaffirmed.

Abdulrazaq Alkali, the Civil Society OGP co-chair, spoke to reporters after the meeting and highlighted its purpose: to review the state OGP action plan, ensuring that it aligns with the current administration’s policies and priorities.

Alkali emphasized the OGP’s determination to enhance the participation of government officials, as they share the common goal of combating corruption alongside the state’s Anti-Corruption Commission.

Responding to the visit, Chairman Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado expressed his appreciation and pledged to work closely with the OGP team in the battle against all forms of corruption in Kano State.

Rimin Gado expressed deep concern regarding the high level of corruption in Kano State, urging the media and civil society organizations to support the commission’s efforts.

He revealed that the commission is currently overwhelmed with ongoing investigations into numerous corruption cases, emphasizing the need for additional support.

Furthermore, Rimin Gado expressed astonishment at the past administration’s officials who had unlawfully converted public properties for personal gain.

He also lamented the use of court orders to impede their investigations. However, he assured the public that the commission would strictly adhere to due process in carrying out its duties.
