PDP sweeps 15 chairmanship seats, 2 results still being awaited

The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) has announced the results of chairmanship local government elections conducted on Wednesday, with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) so far winning 15 chairmanship seats out of the 17 contested.
Announcing the results on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the PLASIEC Headquarters in Jos, the Chairman of the electoral commission, Plangji Daniel Cishak, said that the PDP had won in Mikang, Shendam, Bassa, Riyom, Jos South, Jos East, Kanam, Qua’an Pan, Langtang South, Barakin Ladi, Jos North, Kanke, Bokkos, Wase and Mangu local government areas.
He explained that, the results of Pankshin and Langtang North local government areas were still being awaited.
He stated that the elections were conducted across the state hitch free and were adjudged by independent election observers to be free, fair and credible.
Our correspondent reports that the people Democratic Party, PDP also won most of the Councillorship seats contested, followed by NNPP and PRP.
Our correspondent reports that at the time of filing this report, the PLASIEC Chairman had presented certificates of return to the 15 chairmen-elect, whose swearing-in was conducted by the Governor of the state, Caleb Mutfwang immediately at the Langfield Resort, Little Rayfield, Jos.
