Police Arrest 17 Suspects, Recover Arms, Drugs in Jigawa State

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 17 suspects, including armed robbers, drug dealers, and vandals, during a series of coordinated operations across the state. The operations led to the recovery of firearms, narcotics, and stolen items.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Shi’isu Adam, and made available to journalists in Dutse on Thursday.

According to him, the Jigawa State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, has recorded significant operational successes in combating crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.

Shi’isu disclosed that two suspects, Haruna Saleh and Usman Damina Bahaushe, were arrested with the sum of ₦143,250 during a raid in Dutse Local Government Area. The complainant, he said, positively identified the suspects, while mobile phones and weapons were recovered from them.

He further revealed that another suspect, Usaini Abdullahi, was arrested for armed robbery in Malam Madori Local Government Area, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend four accomplices who fled the scene.

Similarly, two suspected vandals, Ayuba Idris and Ibrahim Muhammad, were arrested for stealing copper wires from a transformer in Malam Madori LGA. Mobile phones and other exhibits were recovered from them.

The PPRO added that three suspects were also apprehended in Kirikasamma Local Government Area for alleged culpable homicide and armed robbery, with a motorcycle and mobile phones recovered in their possession.

In another operation, two suspects, Murtala Bature and Musa Yakubu, were arrested with firearms, narcotics, and other exhibits recovered across Kaugama, Gumel, Sara, and Hadejia Local Government Areas.

“The police recovered a locally made rifle, five blocks of cannabis, and various illicit drugs,” he stated.

Shi’isu also noted that some suspected animal rustlers fled the scene after two Kasea motorcycles were seized from them in Birniwa Local Government Area.

He emphasized that efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects are ongoing, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and order across Jigawa State.

“The Jigawa State Police Command will continue to intensify efforts to ensure peace and security across the state,” he assured.

The PPRO further urged members of the public to cooperate with the police, stressing that timely and credible information from citizens remains crucial in the fight against crime.
