Pro-Arandong Group Warns Against Sabotage Ahead of NULGE Delegates Conference

From Tongnaan Bawa, Jos

A segment group known as “Tazarce Solidarity” has strongly warned those attempting to sabotage the interest of Comrade Makwin Arandong, the incumbent President of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Plateau State chapter.

Our correspondent reports that this was coming ahead of the NULGE delegates conference, slated for 17th September 2024.

The warning was issued by the campaign Director-General of the Arandong Organization, Comrade Hillary Shown, during a press briefing at the NUJ Press centre Jos, the state capital.

Shown debunked allegations that was earlier made by a faction of NULGE members led by Comrade Izere Maxwell Igyem, where they accused Arandong of hijacking the election process and financial misappropriation.

He described the allegations as baseless and false, stating that surprisingly those making the accusations were also part of the peace and reconciliation meeting held at the NULGE national secretariat on August 28, 2024.

He emphasized that an agreement was reached and a memorandum of understanding was also signed regarding the conduct of the forthcoming NULGE election in Plateau State.

The pro-Arandong group again warned that unsubstantial accusations against Arandong would no longer be tolerated. Shown explained that the screening of contestants in the election was a necessary process and that disqualifications were made in line with the Union’s constitution.

While responding to the allegations Regarding the financial misappropriation scandal, Shown swiftly dismissed the allegations and described it as laughable, stating that the Federal Housing Mortgage Bank deducts 2.5% of staff monthly basic salary for loan schemes, which many staff members are beneficiaries.

The Tazarce Solidarity group have however vowed to resist any attempt to sabotage Arandong’s leadership and the upcoming NULGE delegates conference. Adding that they would protect it to the end.
