Science is a Tool for Solving Global Challenges – KNSG

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has emphasized the power of science as a critical tool for addressing global challenges and empowering communities worldwide.
Governor Yusuf made this statement at the closing ceremony of the annual Science & Technology Week and World Science Day, held at the Coronation Hall in Kano State Government House.
Represented by his Deputy Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, Governor Yusuf praised this year’s theme, “Global Science for Global Well-being,” highlighting its relevance to Kano State.
He affirmed that Kano is leveraging science and technology as a means of socio-economic development for the betterment of humanity.
Governor Yusuf announced that the Kano State government has approved the establishment of CBT ICT centers in all 44 local government areas, with a pilot project underway.
He encouraged students and participants to use their scientific knowledge to address both local and global issues.
Speaking earlier, The Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Alh. Mohammed Tajo Othman, added that science and technology drive growth in every aspect of life.
He noted that the state is working to introduce STEM education into the secondary school curriculum to instill tech skills from an early age.
Tajo highlighted the annual Science and Technology Week as a valuable platform for young talents to showcase their abilities, with the Ministry dedicated to supporting these efforts to bring their ideas to fruition.
The event featured paper presentations, drama, exhhiband awards honoring outstanding schools and individuals for their contributions to science and technology in Kano State.
