The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, is expected to arrive in Kano on Saturday for a high-profile novelty football match organised by former Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Danburan Abubakar Nuhu.
The much-anticipated football encounter is scheduled to take place at the famous 18,000-capacity Sani Abacha Stadium in the ancient city of Kano.
The novelty match is expected to attract top sports stakeholders, football veterans, politicians, youth groups, and football lovers from across the country.
Speaking ahead of the event, Hon. Danburan Abubakar Nuhu said the novelty match is aimed at promoting unity, friendship, and sports development among Nigerian youths, while also supporting the efforts of the National Sports Commission under the leadership of Malam Shehu Dikko.
He described the visit of the NSC chairman as a great honour for the people of Kano State, noting that the presence of Shehu Dikko would further inspire young athletes and encourage grassroots sports development across the country.
“Several football veterans and dignitaries from different parts of Nigeria are expected to participate in the event, which will also serve as an avenue for strengthening ties among sports stakeholders,” he said.
Danburan further called on sports enthusiasts and residents of Kano to come out in large numbers to witness the entertaining football match and support initiatives aimed at promoting peace, unity, and youth engagement through sports.
The novelty football match is already generating excitement across Kano as preparations reach an advanced stage ahead of Saturday’s event.
