Stakeholders Validate Kano State Proceeds Of Crime Recovery, Management Bill

Stakeholders made up of Civil Society Organizations(CSOs), Non-governmental Organisations(NGOs), engineers,academics and the media, on Wednesday validated the Kano State Proceeds Of Crime (Recovery and Management) Bill,2025.

Aimed at strengthening the processes and procedures of recovering and managing proceeds of crime in the state,the bill underwent intense deliberations by the stakeholders at a two-day workshop organized by the Rule of Law and Anti-corruption(ROLAC) held at Tahir Palace Hotel,Kano.

In his opening remarks,the Open Government Partnership(OGP) Co-Chair, Malam Abdul’Razak Alkali,who chaired the session, commended the contributions of the stakeholders, describing them as “very valuable.”

Alkali also described the stakeholders’ inputs as quite interesting,and which the resource persons had taken note of.

Prime Time News reports that the validation process as conducted by the stakeholders, included cross-checking/confirmation of the internal cross-referencing in the draft bill to ensure that all sections and sub sub-sections of the document aligned with each other.

Led by the Coordinating Consultant of the session,Prof.Dahiru Jafaru Usman,the exercise also corrected some sections and sub-sections of the draft copy of the bill,as well deleted some unwanted words where necessary.

To wrap up,the workshop agreed that the inputs be harmonized by the Coordinating Consultant and the validated copy be shared with ROLAC, the organiser of the event.

The stakeholders resolved to submit the validated copy to the state Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General for its timely transmission to the State Executive Council for further action.
