Tinubu Loyalist Carpets Atiku Over Today’s Presidential Campaign Flag-Off in Sokoto
A prominent supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Alhaji Jamilu Jadda Garko, has questioned former Vice-President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over plans to flag off his presidential campaign in Sokoto State, describing the move as an indication of improved security in the North-West.
Garko argued that the opposition’s decision to commence its campaign activities in Sokoto reflected growing confidence in the security situation under the Tinubu administration.
Speaking in Kaduna State on Wednesday, the Tinubu loyalist said the relative improvement in security across parts of the country, particularly in the North-West, had created an atmosphere conducive to political activities and public engagements.
He maintained that the planned campaign flag-off in Sokoto was a demonstration that the region was gradually regaining stability, adding that the development underscored the progress made by the federal government in addressing security challenges.
According to Garko, the ability of political parties to plan major rallies and mobilise supporters in the region was a positive indication of improved security and public confidence.
He said, “The decision to flag off a presidential campaign in Sokoto speaks volumes about the security situation in the North-West. It shows that efforts by President Tinubu to address insecurity are yielding results.”
Garko, who is the chairman of Da Hannu Na, a political group under Arewa for Asiwaju, expressed confidence that Tinubu’s re-election would further strengthen the fight against insecurity and consolidate ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability across the country.
He called on Nigerians, particularly residents of the North-West, to support the President’s second-term ambition, arguing that continuity in leadership would provide an opportunity to sustain security interventions, deepen reforms and accelerate national development.
The Tinubu supporter further maintained that the administration remained committed to tackling insecurity, improving the welfare of citizens and creating an environment conducive to economic growth.
He urged political stakeholders to acknowledge ongoing efforts to address the country’s challenges and support policies aimed at strengthening national unity, peace and development.
