Tukur-Tukur Community Commends Swift Response to Diphtheria Outbreak in Zaria

The community of Tukur-Tukur, Zaria, has praised the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Board for its swift and effective response to the recent diphtheria outbreak.

Led by Dr. Bello Jamoh, Executive Secretary of the board, the timely intervention is credited with preventing the further spread of the disease and minimizing its impact.

In a joint statement, Malam Sani Galadima, Chairman of the Tukur-Tukur Progressive Association (TUPA) and State Liaison Officer of the Red Cross, along with Malam Abdulaziz Suleiman, Spokesperson for the Northern Elders Forum, expressed their deep appreciation for Dr. Jamoh’s leadership.

They highlighted his personal visit to the affected area, where he assessed the situation and offered condolences to the families of the deceased children, as a mark of his compassion and dedication to public health.

The outbreak, which tragically claimed the lives of three children on August 25, 2024, left many others requiring medical treatment. However, the swift action of the PHC Board, under Dr. Jamoh’s coordination, helped contain the outbreak and prevent further casualties.

“This quick response demonstrates the Kaduna State Government’s commitment to safeguarding the health of its citizens, particularly the most vulnerable children. We are grateful for the tireless efforts of Dr. Jamoh and his team” said Malam Galadima.

The community’s leaders also extended their gratitude to the state government, led by His Excellency, Malam Uba Sani, for its continued focus on public health.

They expressed hope that the families of the lost children would find comfort in knowing that their loss has not gone unnoticed, and that efforts are being made to prevent such tragedies in the future.
