UN Consultant advice on anger management

A United Nations consultant, Doctor Stephenie Okpanachi, has asserted that a leader that can manage anger can effectively head the world.

She made the assertion while presenting a paper Titled: “Anger management” during a workshop to mark World Thinking Day, organised by Trefoil Guild Nigeria Girl guides Association in Jos.

Okpanachi defines anger as an intense emotional state characterized by feelings of hostility, frustration or irritation to a perceived threat,injustice or provocation.

She said anyone that experiences chronic anger can not take up responsibilities because it leads to mental and physical health problems.

The UN consultant however explained that managing anger takes a long time to be cured and advised the public to try and be be patient, practice physical exercise to control and manage mood, take a deep breath in and out, practice relaxation technique as well as take a walk to de- ease tension.

Earlier, the National Treasurer Trefoil Guild Nigeria Girl guides Association, Grace Ojobo, said the Thinking Day is celebrated annually and globally honour the birthdays of the founders of boy scout and Girl guides, Baden and Olave baden Powell respectively.

According to her, Trefoil observes the day in February for reflection, Unity and service, and since its inception, it has focused on promoting leadership, community service,sisterhood and friendship.

Deputy Director women Affairs, Maureen Dakim, who represented the Plateau State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Caroline Dafur, wrecks alot of homes, hence escalating rates of divorce in the society.

She said has negatively affected homilies due to lack of proper management.

Trefoil state Commissioner Esther Kareem, welcome participants and Saud the workshop was timely because it will help many in handling their emotions and asked them to put into practice all they learned.

State chairperson of Standup for women society, SWS, Liberator Grace Gora, who was represented by the PRO, Tongnaan Dada Bawa, commended Trefoil Guild Nigeria Girl guides Association for organizing the program and said it was quite timely due to the difficult economy experienced by people in the society.

She encouraged them to continually hold such impactful programs to improve lives of people especially women to properly manage their homes when faced with anger.
Gora, however thank the speaker who is also a member of SWS for the brilliant presentation.
