Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday led the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas, alongside several governors, members of the National Assembly, ministers, and other top dignitaries to the wedding of the children of Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, in Maiduguri.
The couples include Aisha Babagana Zulum, who married Mohammed Idi Barde; Mamman Babagana Zulum, who married Yagana Mustapha Busuguma; Umar Babagana Zulum, who married Fatima Azzaki Jidda; and Abba Abubakar Umara, who married Aisha Ibrahim Musa.
The wedding Fatiha took place at the Maiduguri Central Mosque, located near the palace of the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi.
Vice President Shettima served as the wali (bride’s representative), giving out Aisha Babagana Zulum in marriage to Mohammed Idi Barde.
Prominent personalities at the event included former Vice President Babagana Kingibe; National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda; Deputy Senate President, Jibril Barau; business mogul Alhaji Aliko Dangote; former Borno State Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff; and former Minister of Communications, Professor Isa Ali Pantami.
Governors from Kwara, Ogun, Gombe, Yobe, Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Niger, Jigawa, Kano, Nasarawa, Katsina, and Kaduna states were in attendance, while the governors of Imo and Oyo states were represented by their deputies.
Also present were the Ministers of Agriculture, Budget and Economic Planning, Housing and Urban Development, Health and Social Welfare, Education, as well as the Minister of State for Regional Development.
The event also attracted elder statesman, Dr. Muhammadu Indimi, alongside traditional rulers from across the country.
