The All Progressives Congress (APC) has significantly strengthened its position in Potiskum Local Government Area following a mass defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a high-profile reception, the Yobe State APC Chairman, Alh. Mohammed Gadaka, officially welcomed defectors from various communities, including Tora Bora, Texaco, Socol Jigawa, Dorawa, Kabul, Kamfala, Tsohuwar Kwata, and Rasha. Leading the group were Baffa Kigan and Audu Hamisu (popularly known as Big Soja), who arrived with 293 supporters.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman Gadaka assured the newcomers of full integration and support within the party and the government. However, he issued a firm directive regarding party discipline, stating that it is now mandatory for all government workers and political office holders to possess valid APC membership cards.
The Party Chairman further outlined the party’s vision stating that ”Today marks a significant milestone for our community and the people of Yobe. Standing here together, we must acknowledge the immense progress achieved under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni. He has demonstrated that true leadership is not found in mere words, but in the visible, tangible results that improve the lives of the common man.”
”We are witnessing a total transformation of our infrastructure, our schools, and our healthcare systems. However, our mission is not yet complete. This movement is about securing the future for our children.”
“Let it be known, and let this message be delivered clearly; loyalty to the party is paramount. Those currently holding office who do not possess a valid APC membership card will be removed from their positions. We cannot allow individuals to benefit from the party’s platform if they are not committed members” He said.
On New Appointments, Gadaka stressed that “To our brothers and sisters who have recognised our progress and are newly decamping to join our ranks,?we are ready to integrate you. Those joining us now will be appointed as Senior Special Assistants (SSA) to ensure you have a seat at the table.”
“To the youth gathered here today, you are the backbone of this state. Do not allow voices of division to distract you. We have a clear vision for empowerment and sustainable development” Gadaka hinted.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Audu Hamisu praised Governor Mai Mala Buni for his extensive developmental projects across Yobe State.
He noted that the Governor’s performance, combined with the effective leadership of Alh. Mohammed Gadaka, inspired their decision to return to the APC.
