Yobe state government has recruited 948 primary school teachers to boost primary education in the state.
In a press statement by Mamman Mohammed DG press and media affairs to the governor said, the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alh. Umaru Hassan Babayo, confirmed this on Sunday after meeting with the executive governor of the state, (Dr) Mai Mala Buni.
Babayo explained that the new recruitment is to fill existing gaps of manpower needed in the primary schools.
“Most of those recruited were volunteer teachers who had been teaching in schools as volunteers without formal engagement by the state government.
“The board is organizing workshops for the new recruits to acquire additional skills on teaching for effective and efficient dissemination of knowledge to the pupils
The chairman charged the new teachers to justify the government’s confidence in them.
He assured that the board would intensify inspection to ensure productivity and for the government to have value for its money.
Gov. Buni urged the board to ensure that those qualified for the job are given the opportunity.
“The board should ensure training of the new teachers to have the best out of them.
“Government would continue to support the board to promote efficiency and productivity for the state to achieve its set goals of taking education to greater heights” Gov. Buni emphasized.
