Your performance is outstanding, Kano Ex-Lawmakers to Sen. Barau
Former members of the Kano State House of Assembly, under the aegis of the Kano Ex-Legislators Forum, have commended the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, for what they described as his outstanding performance in legislative and developmental efforts.
This was contained in a statement signed by Ismail Mudashir, Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Media and Publicity on Monday.
According to the statement, the forum revealed this during a courtesy call to the Deputy President of the Senate at the National Assembly, Abuja.
The forum praised Senator Barau’s interventions in key sectors such as health, education, agriculture, economy, power, and transportation, noting that his contributions have significantly impacted the lives of Kano residents.
“You are the Messiah not only to our state but the North,” the statement quoted Honourable Yusuf Ibrahim Lajawa, who spoke on behalf of the forum, as saying.
“As you know, we are local and grassroots politicians, and we are here to tell you what our people are saying. They are happy with you, and they are praying for your success.”
The statement further noted that Senator Barau’s initiative, the Barau Initiative for Agricultural Revolution in North West (BIARN), would play a crucial role in reviving agriculture in the region.
The forum particularly commended his role in facilitating the establishment of the North West Development Commission (NWDC), a bill he sponsored in the Senate.
Other members of the forum, including Hon. Saidu Garba Zugachi and Comrade Alhasan Uba Idris, described Senator Barau’s performance since his election to the Senate in 2015 as exemplary.
In response, Senator Barau expressed gratitude for the commendation, assuring the former lawmakers that he remains committed to the development of Kano and the North.
“Parliamentarians are grassroots people, and they know what is suitable for our people. Whatever we do, our state and country are at the top of our agenda. This is our preoccupation. We will continue to work to address the challenges facing our people and country,” he said.
