YUMSUK Holds First Quranic Recitation Competition

Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK), has successfully organized its inaugural Quranic recitation competition, with participants from 22 states across Nigeria.

The event saw 18 participants emerging as winners across various categories, highlighting the university’s commitment to promoting Qur’anic literacy and fostering a culture of Quranic reading among Muslim youth.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, expressed his delight at the success of the competition and praised the impressive performances of the young participants.

He commended the dedication and hard work of everyone involved in making the event a reality. He also announced that preparations have been finalized for an international Quranic recitation competition, further emphasizing the university’s commitment to promoting Islamic education.

Professor Kurawa extended his gratitude to individuals who provided financial support for the event, including philanthropist Alhaji Aliko Sa’adu Bebeji and Gwani Hamza Daura, among others.

The Director of the Center for Qur’anic Studies, Dr. Muhammad Salisu Isma’il, attributed the success of the competition to the leadership of the Vice Chancellor and his management team. Dr. Isma’il also revealed that plans are underway to host an international Quranic recitation competition in collaboration with the School of Postgraduate Studies at the university in the coming months.
