Zamfara: Bandits shot Zamfara CPG Commander, abduct commuters

The Commander of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (CPG), Major General Lawal B. Muhammad (rtd) has sustained a gunshot on his both laps fired by the bandits who launched attack on commuters along Funtua-Gusau road on Friday.
According to the source close to the CPG Commander, he was returning from Kaduna on his way back to Gusau the Zamfara State capital when his entourage ram into the bandits barricade on the highway and in struggle to escape the trap, the bandits already opened fire and hit the Commander on his two laps.
An eyewitness said the Commander who on his arrival to the scene, has already communicated to the troops whose duty was to patrol the highway with a view to ensure safety of lives against bandits who abduct commuters on daily basis, ”Before the arrival of the troops, bandits had opened fire on the Commander’s vehicle for noticing that he communicated for quick response to repel them.
“It was in the course of the bandits’ efforts to expedite their nasty operations, they opened fire on the Commander’s vehicle during which they shot him on his two laps and abducted some commuters.
“The troops quickly arrived the scene with firepower which compelled the bandits immediately retreated into the nearby bush with the abducted victims leaving behind the CPC Commander in blood”, an eyewitness has stressed.
A government official who did not want his identity published, said the Zamfara State Government has directed for the transfer of the CPG Commander to the Orthopedic Hospital for further medical attention.
