The Concern Citizens of Zamfara State have taken a peaceful demonstration to the house of Senate demanding the immediate removal of former Governor Bello Matawalle from the screened ministerial list.

Speaking during the protest, the leader, hon. Saifullahi Ibrahim Haruna, said the attention of the concern Citizens has been drawn by the recent presidential presentation of the list of ministerial nominees to the house of Senate for screening.

“We found it an obligation to all right thinking and good people of Zamfara State to match forward to draw the attention of both President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the house of Senate to for the sake of giving the state a sense of belonging, to with immediate effect remove the name of Bello Matawalle from the list been presented for ministerial screening.

“Our point of contention is that, the good people of Zamfara State are not virtually represented if the former Governor Matawalle remains in the list of ministerial nominees as authored by the President Bola Tinubu.

“It is well known fact that, former Governor Matawalle has allegedly been accused of looting the public funds when he was the Governor of Zamfara State right from 2019 to 2023 as the case been presented to the EFCC by the transition committee led by former IGP MD Abubakar (rtd), cried by hon.Saifullahi.

“Again, on the 18-05-2023, it is there on record that, even Osita Nwajah, Director of Public Affairs of the EFCC disclosed that Matawalle is being investigated by the EFCC over allegations of corruption, award of phantom contracts and diversion of over N70 billion.

He however, called on President Bola Tinubu, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and the entire distinguished members of the house of Senate, to with immediate effect reverse the nomination and the subsequent screening respectively and replace with another nominee that bears the public interest of Zamfara State.
