Smear campaign: A Strategy to Distract Asiwaju, Badaru — CNP

A policy and good governance advocacy group in northern Nigeria, Consolidated Northern Professionals, CNP, has frowned at the increasing levels of attacks, campaign of calumny and baseless allegations against some nothern leaders by different shady groups across the region and country in general.
This was contained in a press statements, made available, yesterday in Kano, and signed by Dr Muhammad Sani and Mr. Ben Terkura.
Dr Sani, who is the coordinator says, ” this culture and attitude of constantly attacking leaders without evidence is becoming worrisome. Just few days ago, the media was awash with reports of the Honourable Minister of Defence Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, as working to undermine Mr President and the country. Such unfounded allegations, by paid and faceless individuals must be discouraged because it diminishes our moral fabric as a people.
He continued, “just recently, his Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto warned against such behavior from our youths who alleges without proof. Such hollow and brazen falsehoods against Badaru, who has been working hard in keeping to renewed hope of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu of securing lives and properties of all Nigerians, should not be undermined, at the expense of teeming Nigerians.
“Of course, we are not unmindful of the fact that in politics, people get desperate, but this level of desperation in trying to cause a rift and disharmony between the President and Minister Badaru, is the height of it. How can a Badaru that has constantly been working to address the security challenge in the North and entire country, be accused of working against the interest of this administration “? In fact, anyone who believes such tales needs to review his cognitive ability”, he concluded.
On his part, the secretary of CNP, Mr Ben Terkura said, ‘Mr Badaru, has an unblemished track record of excellent trajectory of service delivery both in private and public sector. He has maintained a dignified silence after his successful 8 years as Jigawa governor. As Minister of Defence, Mr Badaru has been dealing decisively with several bandits, terrorists leaders and degrading their capability. We call on president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ignore the senseless noisemakers, it is a strategy to distract the administration’s effort in combating insecurity in the country. There are lots of conflict entrepreneurs who benefit immensely from insecurity, do you think they would be happy seeing their evil enterprise dismantled?, Definitely, they would fight back, through whatever means, and they are fighting back using gullible and clueless individuals parading as youth groups in northern Nigeria” he said.
The group has however resolve to continue to support the efforts of the Tinubu administration in keeping the country intact despite the prevailing socioeconomic challenges, urging Nigerians to support and pray for the country as the temporary situation, or setback shall be over soon. Because, resorts to personal attacks and speeding falsehoods regarding members of the cabinet, as we have seen in the case of the Honourable Minister of Defence Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, will not speak well in the effort of the administration in securing the country and ensuring food security.
